Topic
The Graphic Novel: Your Kids Will Take You to Places You Never Thought They Could

Shhhh....don't tell anyone or your cover might be blown!

For many years now, graphic novels have been the fastest growing of all publishing categories. Graphic novels are not limited to one genre category, silly comics to be used to ‘hook’ a reluctant reader to read; they embrace enough subjects to put them into every section of a library or bookstore. From ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic lettering to Trajan’s Column, completed in AD 113 telling a story using sequential art is older than the written word.

Graphic novels will be available for folks to look through as well as books about graphic novels/sequential art and more.  Participants will walk away with a lesson and materials to use the very next day (appropriate for both middle and high school students).

“The graphic novel is not literary fiction’s half-wit cousin, but, more accurately, the mutant sister who can often do everything fiction can, and, just as often, more”

-Dave Eggers
